So. Yesterday I was going to be spending time with my mom and her friend gourmet shopping (trader joe's cheese is my frieeeend). And since those trips tend to eat up my wallet if we're not well fed before hand... I decided to premake a lunchbox, and lately, I've been on a cute-kick with making my meals.

And watching my friends play videogames a lot.



This is what came of it. Bento is in one of my little sidecar boxes, and is made of a pastrami and alfalfa sprout sammich with mustard, and a cheese, chicken, pastrami, nori, and cheddar image of Gordon Freeman, a cup full of edamame as a stand in for the healing bug-pellets in the game, and an organic farm fresh tea-egg with cucumber legs as a headcrab. You can't see it, but there's also a babybel cheddar under the headcrab.

Earlier this week, inspired by the Horrific bento in Real Life I realized I had everything I needed to make my own and got to doing it to weird out the folks at my plasma donation. Only the top tier is horrific, as the bottom tier was filled with a couple of mini cornmuffins, some carrot coins, soy sauce and another egg.

Top Tier contains: 2 onigiri both bloodied with cranberry-raspberry-pomegranate icecream topping I made a while back, in a foliage of brussel sprouts, being devoured by a malevolent hardboiled egg colored with cake dye.

Also worth noting, those clear plastic boxes that Ferrero Rocher chocolate truffles come in make WONDERFUL bento boxes once they've been cleaned out. I made sushi lunches for my mom and her friend (california rolls) in each of them. I solved my problem of keeping the wasabi and ginger from tainting the rolls in transit, but putting them into those little plastic capsules you get toys in from those gumball machines.



I also put in a muskmelon realfruitjuice gummi inside of each for dessert, and mom's friend asked if she could keep the box!

I said yes, since this sunday all those boxes of Ferreror Rocher chocolates are going to be 50% off. >=D
